How will you file?
Determining your proper tax divorce filing status in Maryland and making a timely filing of your tax return is critical to your divorce financial plan.
Your filing status is determined by your legal status at the end of the year –
- If you were married at December 31st, you can file Jointly or Married Filing Separate
- If you were divorced by December 31st, you must file Single
Under either of the situations above, you may be able to file as Unmarried Head of Household (HH), the most coveted and advantageous filing status. The criteria for HH is very stringent.
You can easily determine if you are eligible to file HH by using Faggio Financial’s Head of Household flow chart.
Just complete and submit the form to the right and you may be on your way to saving hundreds or thousands of dollars in tax savings.
